Water Pump Status

Attention Residents and Guests who use Go Home Lake Road Well.

The Township has been advised by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit that additional signage is immediately required on the Go Home Lake Road Well.

The signage is advising people that the water has not been treated or disinfected. A temporary laminated sign was attached to the well on the afternoon of June 25 and it will remain in place until a permanent sign is received.

To the Township’s knowledge the additional signage is not the result of any changes in the quality of the water in the well.

If you have additional questions, please contact the Township of Georgian Bay 705-538-2337 X230 or the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit at 705-721-7520.

Anyone requiring access to a public water tap can go to the MacTier Arena at 9 Haig Street in MacTier or the Baxter Ward Community Centre at 25 Community Centre Road in Port Severn, if people have any concerns or are looking for alternative options that are municipally treated water sources.

Association Position

Simon normally only test the well water once per year on Regatta weekend, unless there is a caterpillar infestation. In the past 25 years E. Coli has NEVER been detected, and Coliforms have only been detected on 4 occasions (2008, 2013, 2014, and 2022). In all 4 cases a follow-up test was clear.

Disclaimer

You use the pump at your own risk, the association only tests the water as a service to members and does not guarantee that the water is potable.
